This is the analogy I use.

Remember those high school seniors who were bullies to everyone and treated the teachers like garbage? The ones who know they were destined to work shitty jobs or join the military because they’d never go to college or get a good trade.

That’s your Trump voter. They know their way of life has peaked. They are too old, too dumb, or too stubborn to adapt to a changing world. They want coal plants and big gas guzzling cars because that’s what they want

You are missing a vital point. Those folks are mindless herd animals looking for a leader. They can’t leave the herd for fear of being lost and they are too dumb or lazy to figure things out themselves.

Yes. Youve still got people on Lemmy who argue for a 3rd party vote in the previous and next election. Its mind numbing the fairy land these people live in. All around the world people are watching as Americans struggle with simplest choices.

But as fun as it is to blame Americans entirely their media is completely cooked. Their FCC refuses to enforce laws against bad actors. Internal bad actors and external bad actors constantly spread misinfo and manipulate public perception. Even though its been said over and over I still dont think people actually understand the influence this is having on the average citizen. You can convince the media voter of anything if you can control their perception of the world.

It seems third party voters are the absolute least of your worries, but do go on with your mind numbing. Yeah, they’re the first idiots that come to mind, eh? BRILLIANT

        Why vote for the pedophiles?

Vote Green, or Socialist, or Libertarian, or WHATEVER comes closest to what you think is right.

They say it’s only A or B because those are the options they WANT you to have. But it’s not their call, and it’s not even their business. They don’t realize that third party votes influence the major parties (if they didn’t, it wouldn’t enrage them so much, now would it?).

Ds and Rs, worry about your own parties, get your own voters out. A lot of people hate both of you, and you’re going to have to let them go. You can’t force them to join your binary clown show.

The majority of voters are INDEPENDENTS (40%). Ds and Rs are now the minority (30% each). That’s what you get for ignoring voters for DECADES.

I think the problem is the voting system itself. first past the post highly enocurages a two party system. third parties will only rise when one of the two big parties does a major fuck up which, considering the pedophile president, is hard to do at this point.

Idk man Ross Perot almost won back in the 90s if the cancer thing hadn’t happened he might have actually done it and then I truly believe once it happened it would have continued to happen.

But instead yeah we should keep the system we have now democrats and republicans have been so good to us wouldn’t you agree?

You’re like the guy that tells people not to vote for the union.

Bonus: here’s an article talking about how the democrats are helping trump get his spying powers kicked off even better in the USA.

Make sure to keep telling people to only vote for these two parties though instead of trying to gain enough support for an actual change.

Like that time they didn’t listen to their voter base and tried forcing Joe Biden again only to pull Kamala Harris out of their hat with no primary held practically giving the election to trump?

Or that time they didn’t prosecute him for the Jan 6th attack on the capital that he created, and in turn giving him another chance to screw us all?

There’s so much more, but that is a big piece of the puzzle right there.

Listen to their voter base? You mean take an unpopular stance on an issue that doesnt rank in the top 10 for any group of Americans. Oh wow you’ve got amazing political insight. They were already on the correct side of that issue.

They did prosecute trump. Trump won the election and corruptly cancelled it.

But yeah keep telling me how its a hard choice between the side thays actually improving conditions for people and the corrupt dictator. Fucken moron.

Had them forcing Joe Biden to run while he was clearly unfit to, they pretty much guaranteed themselves not to win. Also, why no primary? It obviously WAS in the top 10 issues of their voting base because they didn’t win.

Also, Several Democrats have voted with Republicans to support funding bills backed by President Trump, including notable figures like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Dick Durbin.

So yeah I’d vote democrat over the republican party, and to be clear I did but I think a third party winning and gaining support is long, long overdue.

You can call me a moron all you want, if you are happy with the way things are keep voting for the only two parties we have had that both contributed in making it this way. Again, since you are unable to understand this I do not support republicans, I think democrats are better. However, I think both are long overdue to be extinguished with better options presented.

Also no the Senate acquitted trump. Which was bullshit, and republican led to be clear.

No dude I’m just being objective about it.

I will gladly vote democrat every time they run against republicans because they are better. However, that doesn’t mean that they have our best interests in mind because they do not. They just have better interests in mind for us than republicans.

All that said, a third party that would actually have teeth is absolutely needed. You notice how 7 democrats voted in favor of trumps ice bullshit? You notice how except for a few Democrats like Nancy Pelosi they all get hard ons and vote in favor of expanding warrantless surveillance laws? You notice how they had four god damn years to do something about the Epstein files and didn’t do shit? Obviously Republicans went out do their way to cover it up and that’s worse and old fuck face trump is all in them but my god man, they had 4 fucking years to blow the lid off that shit and they DID NOTHING.

So yes, I wish we could have another more effective option. At this point its like asking “would you rather go live with the uncle who molested you or the grandfather that apologizes on his behalf and let’s him still come over sometimes?” I mean shit, I guess the one that let’s him come over sometimes. That’s better than the other option, but still isn’t great.

Just because one is better doesn’t mean they both don’t need to get the fuck out. Wheres our fucking universal healthcare? Obamacare was better and a start, but also wasn’t universal fucking healthcare which they could have done. Where is the marijuana legalization? They did finally take a stance for gay marriage but I guess what it only took like 27 fucking years?

I just get tired of that shit man. I want someone who doesn’t get billions of dollars in donations from corporate interests. And no, I’m not a communist either. I’m someone who wants shit to be fair dude. Every single day I see decadence and greed on display from both parties. Yes one is clearly worse but again its like a family member that isn’t abusing you but also isn’t really trying to stop it either.

          I never said that.

I said, that he almost won and if he had I truly believe that others would have too (meaning third party runners)

I never even said I supported him or any variation of that, simply that a third party almost did win and that if it happened once it could again but of course never will with the type of discourse that guy is using. “Throwing away votes” and shit what a load of nonsense.

People like that are why third party votes dont win and seem to be wasted in that context.

I run into Euros all the time who think colonialism is over and everyone is forgiven because global south countries can make deals with Euro companies to destroy their land at the expense of their people instead of being invaded literally to destroy their land at the expense of their people (most of the time, of course). People in imperial metropoles are just more likely to require delusion to make sense of a world where they benefit from cruelty without being a bad person.

Many of the tactics we have to fight settler-colonial imperialism has come from colonized and marginalized people in the United States; liberals conveniently forget they exist because this fact challenges the inevitability of their way of life.

My theory is brain atrophy. It’s not that those people are stupid and unable to learn, it’s that they don’t have to use their brains for any sort of analytical thinking and kind of forget how to do it. You can still teach them their trade and they will be good at their job but they are never challenged intellectually. School is easy and you can finish education just by playing sports or whatever, news are predigested and dumbed down, entertainment is not intellectually stimulating in any way. Most people go through their lives without even having to contemplate anything deeper than what hamburger to have for lunch. Then when Trump shows up they simply don’t have the brain capacity needed to understand he’s lying to them. “He says the war is good for us”. That’s it. There’s no “but” because their brains can’t do that anymore. The processing just stops right there.

Of course there are still curious people there that study, wonder about things and try to understand the world. It’s just that they are the minority now. In other countries the proportions are reversed for now but things don’t look that good there either.
