So that’s what skilled lemmy users look like
After moving to Taiwan from America, I noticed that asking about someone profession is an American thing. Not once has anyone asked me what I do for work after moving here. Except from Americans.
We ask that question, because flat out asking their net worth is impolite.
We need to place them on the income scale, above or below us, so we know how to treat them. This is exactly what is happening, but no one will admit it.
I’m just shit at small talk and it’s an easy opening.
I think it’s more a conversation starter. Some people who work might have interest in their job and might get them to open up faster. In Taiwan, it deters people from opening up.
Happens way less often in the mid west vs SF Bay Area
Quite refreshing to have no idea what a lot of people do for a living
I learned the hard way. The first few times I asked someone in Taiwan I just met, the awkward silence and the ambiguous answers made me stop asking.
It’s just small talk. Work is a huge part of most Americans identity so it’s natural to look for similarities in other people’s work
Ya, I think American associates their work as their personality. I find this interesting.
It’s more like they associate work with your value as a human being and aren’t shy about it.
The Skaven clean up good without warpstone, look these fine clan Skryre gentlemen even let a man-thing participate with his own Skaven costume. The reduction in size is a bit concerning though, probably the fault of Thanquel somehow.
Just Say No To The Warp

I think he’s a spy. He’s clearly infiltrated this organization.

Still remember last time I saw this image make its rounds, I think it was edited to be about Mastodon, objectively the lamest part of the fediverse.
You spelled hexbear wrong.
Don’t ask the question if you don’t want to know the answer.
Honestly, can we make a vote for installing pizza makers next to the Emengercy ORs? It sounds like a good deal.
But what if you accidentally leave some pizza in the incision site when you sew it up?
Just some extra red sauce, all good
Greasy fingers and scalpels don’t really mix…

I have that thing where I have to fav each repost of this particular meme
I have a reminder on my calendar for surgeon pizza rats day every year. I don’t know what, or why, but I have it.
This comic will always make me smile. Does anyone know the author of it?
Calkearns

Context isn’t your strong point huh?
It’s the artists handle on all things social media.
This is what my grandfather did for 40 years until he was hit by a train, found Jesus and formed mariachi band with him.

This is the IRL story Ratatouille was based on.
The rat’s parents wanted him to be a doctor and the human wanted to be a cook…so they made a deal.
