I mean soda as glaze is not uncommon. Coca cola can be used as a glaze base for pork spare ribs in chinese cooking. It’s basically just a sweet dark glaze at that point

I’ve seen people use soda in seafood boil as well but no clue if that tastes good.

The rice was pretty bad though. Thats the you should probably just buy a rice cooker kinda rice
