Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

  • A couple flock cameras near my town keep getting taken out and put back up.

The latest blurry security camera footage to catch the culprit has led to sweet FA since they ride a nondescript dark color mountain bike, wear all black clothing without logos or text, and seem to avoid riding their bike unmasked near businesses with cameras and houses that might have door cameras.

I don’t even think they know gender/skin/hair color. Anything other than “average human height” really.

Anyway, shout out to everyone who destroys one of these things. It’s illegal, but it’s the morally correct thing to do.

  • Only if you participate in an instance that tracks such things.

I know startrek.website tracks individual comments and posts, but not overall. So I would have to go back and check each individual comment and add up the total if I cared to find out how many points I have accumulated.

I know some don’t track any at all.

I know lemmy.world tracks at least comment votes.

I understand that a basic point system allows people to sort comments a little easier, but it really can reinforce echo chambers.

I am guilty of often sorting posts with dozens of comments by top vote ranking, but I try to just do oldest to newest comments.

  • I always deadpan people who say that, make my index/middle fingers to form a V shape, then force the corners of my mouth up.

You want a smile? Go find someone who’s happy. You want service? Don’t tell me what to do and I’m willing to try and help.

It usually got a chuckle, but sometimes the person would get uncomfortable and leave like they think I’m about to stab them or something.

Or I tell them my grandmother died.

Hey now we can both be uncomfortable and wishing you hadn’t said anything!

  • There was once an emergency medical flight coming into the hospital I live next to, but someone noticed that a person had parked dead center of the helipad.

The hospital was undergoing some construction, and the crew was on site at the time.

To my understanding, nobody saw what happened and no cameras caught it, but the car miraculously ended up about 40ft away from where it was parked, with orange-yellow paint scraped along one side and heavy equipment track imprints in the grass next to the pad.

The helicopter was able to land, and someone had to decide whether they wanted to admit to blocking the helipad and try to blame the construction company for damages, or let it go and drive around with a big dent in one side of the car.
