It was about 4 months out of date at code freeze from my understanding and 6 months out of date on release which is honestly better than I’d expect normally for packages in official repos

Software needs users to fund development and most users find the software via word of mouth and there’s no way I’m telling a friend that they should try POOP for their next art project

I’d love to hear what your solution would be? They freeze everything two months out to allow for thorough testing and unless your answer to the problem is switching to a rolling release cycle (which is exactly the opposite of what its supposed to be), then I don’t think there’s anything to be done
This sort of distro is and always has prioritised stability over having the latest of everything and that’s a good thing. I use CachyOS on my desktop but it’s the absolute last thing I’d put on a server, let alone a production one.
Just use Docker if you need something newer

The state or computer science right now is soul crushing
I’ve actually not heard of a single Canadian (ignoring those who sold out and moved to the US) who’s been on the list but someone can correct me if I just missed an article or something
I’d like to think that maybe it means we’re just better people but given the way the world is, our ultra rich probably just have their own snow-tinted Epstein who’s still alive and active
I hate this sort of meme/joke because it just perpetuates the idea that people’s skin colour affects their actions rather than their upbringing and personality which is pretty fucking racist but with a “progressive” tint.
It’s such a weird American thing

What features out of curiosity? I haven’t used Nova since like Android 7

lmao, they remove it when they *find* it, they’re not actively looking for it. In fact, I bet they’re actively trying to avoid ways to take it down.
Yeah, I don’t use IG but my wife has reported explicitly nazi glorification content before but because the account would say “for historical purposes only”, they just say they didn’t find anything wrong with the posts. Fuck Meta

Would they actually be able to afford it? Investors have been throwing endless amounts of money onto the fire but in OpenAI’s case at least, it was all essentially bought like “I’ll pay you later, trust me”, right?
I’d assume convincing companies twice that you’re trustworthy enough to buy the world’s supply of RAM with an IOU wouldn’t be possible but I guess I thought the same thing for the first time as well
edit: either way, I’d take a longer period of expensive RAM if it meant a giant “fuck you” to the AI companies
I’m not a gambling person at all but I do like the mix of betting inconsequential amounts on a poker game and just doing a game night with a few friends. We’ll do poker night occasionally where we all put in $20 CAD and while most of the fun comes from having some pints and chatting, the idea of maybe ending with an extra $80 or whatever in beer change makes it a little more exciting even if i usually expect to lose it.

It’s by no means Linux but I actually do find MacOS quite customisable, especially if you spend a lot of time in the command line. It’s going in the opposite direction in the last couple years of course but you could straight up run the i3 TWM in XQuartz on MacOS if you wanted to
What customisations do you find MacOS lacks?
IIRC the US heavily pressured other countries with tariffs to also ban it
They’ve actually been doing all of that. Iran’s killing it with their propaganda and I love it
I stumbled onto her real name and can say that she’s alive and the gore pictures were fake (I was bored and a bit drunk)
I initially disagreed but after actually reading the post, I’m with you. If it was only the article’s text that was generated and not the data or graphs then I don’t see why the whole thing would be written off. I mean, it’s really sad seeing people offload their writing to AI but I still found it interesting.
