Putting someone in timeout maybe works for three year olds but it doesn’t work for adults even if you hold them there 1000 times longer. Restitution and rehabilitation is a significantly more effective solution and results in much lower recidivism. Only reason to lock someone in a box is if they present a significant danger to the public, and that’s not to punish them, but to protect others.
I’m in Minnesota and I get super carsick just driving in Wisconsin. I’ve gone up the mountain on Orcas island in Washington and it was very beautiful but I actually thought I was gonna hurl. It feels just like those pirate ship carnival rides. I really don’t know how people ride those without getting sick.
However the small mountains (more like big hills tbh) along the north shore of Lake Superior are fine and don’t make sick at all for some reason.
I could have had a note and a texture thingy (I would rub the screen and textured case to self soothe) although the phone is more discrete cause everyone has one.
When I was in highschool I had an app to help calm me (recommended by my therapist) because I had such severe anxiety problems. I know there are things you can do without an app but it was helpful when I was panicking so much I could hardly think. I don’t think a blanket ban is appropriate. Phones aren’t inherently bad and it really depends on how they are being used. It makes more sense to revoke phone privileges from individual students if they can’t use them properly.
How tech companies feel after not hiring juniors and not caring at all about the massive future shortage of experienced developers that it will inevitability result in.
My parents did that to me as well until one day when I was like 6. I kept trying to get inside to cool off and my mom kept telling me it was too nice out to be indoors until eventually I threw up and passed out.
While Debian is my preferred distro, I wouldn’t reccomend it to others unless they are techy and don’t mind fiddling with things. I absolutely wouldn’t reccomend it to my grandma (I would reccomend her Mint though) and probably not to someone who just wants to play games, especially if they have an Nvidia card. I do game on Debian with a 3060, but it was cumbersome getting stuff working properly because of old drivers. I did get it working, but I think most people just want to play their games and not deal with that. I also have a nearly 10 year old laptop with Debian, and since it’s so old, everything does, “just work”, but I imagine most people aren’t also using the same 10 year old laptop.
