1·9 days agoMint. I’ve gotten the popping/crackling to a minimum, but it’s still happening occasionally. (Oddly it happens most often with games that have sound disabled both by OS and via in game)

15·9 days agoI put off the switch for ages due to similar reasons, tried once that failed horribly. Later had a motherboard failure and Microsoft showed their whole arse. Reactivated the dual boot, channeled my inner old woman energy, solved the video issue and have been happily tinkering with the smaller issues as they come up. Still playing whack a mole, but now I’m getting things the way I want them, instead of disabling things I’m being told I want by some corporate nutcase.
And hilariously, I am spending less time maintaining Linux than I did for Windows.

24·10 days agoNot surprised in the least. It’s all about maintaining incoming cash flow.
They cancelled my Win11 (from purchased Win10 eligible upgrade) key earlier this year when I replaced a failed motherboard.
Happy to be free of their ecosystem. Should have jumped free long ago.

Not sure Xbox will be gone any time soon, but once Asha has taken all the blame they’ll get back to the same old BS.
For real. Everyone already has their friend group, their clique, whatever. They often say they are open and welcoming, and sometimes are for a while. They don’t try to get to know the newcomer, regale then with stories of their already set in stone group, and make promises they have no intention of keeping. Newcomer leaves, and they don’t even notice or care to reach out, and if they do, it’s purely performative and there’s no follow through because they already have their group.
