Holy shit it happened, someone chose the passphrase

It’s a nice idea, but random passwords are quite a bit safer than any manually created password. We use password generators for that. Some of them also support passwords that can be pronounced. In some way, anyway, because the “words” make no sense.

Though, i’m still waiting for someone who would accept a passphrase.

It’s their user password to get into their computers. Password manager won’t help there.

You don’t install anything. No local admin for any normal user.

I let the users choose whether they want pass phrases or classic cryptic passwords. So far nobody wanted passphrases, because apparently they can’t do 10 finger system typing. Next step will be self-service passwords & MFA once we fixed the major issues around here.

That’s the plan. Can’t wait for their faces…

Maybe, but i guess that has also to do with the fact, that a lot of companies don’t seem to have any idea what the legitimate use case could be, so they throw it everywhere and see where it sticks. Which kinda reminds me of the company i’ve worked for several years ago, which was basically just “let’s throw GPS data onto a map and see what happens” for 20 years, and was struggling when logistics companies wanted a bit more than just a damn map. They had to rework the entire interface.

Only a matter of time until all the “chatbox with addons” providers go down the drain…
