Or. it’s implying that he had his priorities all fucked up, if he wanted to be a good politician.

97·7 days ago“Super Easy to Defeat” is the now. They don’t care about that.
They just need you to accept it, and move along.
In a few years time, it will not be “super easy to defeat” but will be standard practice and accepted law.
By that stage it will likely be too late to do anything. They will have tied it in with chat control and all of our data.
Can you imagine the freedom that will be discovered 50 years from now in a trend, when people decide to ditch their personal devices and live like they used to 70, 80 years ago (maybe even 60).

Technology@lemmy.world•Ford hired AI and sacked humans. It backfired badlyEnglish
46·17 days agoThe important bits:
The staff will lead quality reviews after the automation issues cost the company billions of dollars - while some workers will also help improve and train the AI systems.
“We brought back technical specialists and they hunt for failure points before a part ever reaches the plant floor.”
After rehiring experienced engineers, Ford experienced a marked improvement in its quality standards.
“Over prior years, we didn’t pay as much attention as we should have to the experience of our most knowledgeable engineers that have been with us through many product cycles.
Basically saying that they massively underpaid and undervalued their staff, took and are still taking a hit that’s costing them BILLIONS and rehired the staff to train their ai so that they can do it again.
I hope the staff that were rehired asked and received a massive pay increase, inline with what it would be costing ford still, if they didn’t.

21·24 days agoI think I tried Thunder, raccoon, Jerboa, voyager and one or two others. I liked racoon but was having issues with it. once I changed to Interstellar there was a small learning curve to get used to, but I really like it now. summit and connect have been mentioned, as has boost. But thinking about it, if I’m happy with interstellar, I may as well stay with it.

4·27 days agoThis is nothing to do with the interests of Big Tech, this guy has used old Big Tech design to sell a nice looking product, for a premium price. People in general don’t like to part with that much money for something that is described as a “secondary device” that limits their capabilities in a way that they should be able to do themselves. Most smartphones already have digital wellbeing and parental controls on them. There are also tons of guides and apps on how to limit or restrict things on your smartphone that you can buy for a fraction of the price.
His pricing is all wrong, no doubt he will sell a few at that price to collectors, enthusiasts and some people that think it’s worth it. But at the end of the day, at this pricepoint, the phone will surely fall by the wayside.
There are plenty of other phones trying with the same idea, but similarly, the high prices put people off, and many of those have premium features (ghost phone, light phone) The ghost phone also offers cheaper alternatives. For a retro look you have the Punkt phone or many others.

What does Fractic mean?
Back in school, a gifted kid told me to memorise “Chrisostomatico-perifractic-habitanamala-culacatescia-bobblers” as my new name, meaning “a man who is coated in gold”. This nickname stuck and led to others being named similarly, like Ladyfractic and Puppyfractic.

Technology@lemmy.world•Commodore Callback 8020: Flip phone without browser, social networks, and 5GEnglish
31·27 days agoThe Callback 8020 is set to be released in five variants. The BASIC Beige, ProtoPET White, and SX Silver models will each cost €499.99. Commodore is charging €549.99 for the transparent Starlight Edition. The Founders Edition, with a gold-plated “C=" key and gold-colored casing, will be offered for €640.
They are a lovely looking phone, but I’m sure that they must be targeting a niche section of the market.
There are definitely people that are pretentious enough to spend an extra €140 on an already expensive phone, so that they can have the gold plated “C=” on the front of the phone. I guess I know who they are targeting with these, and I’m glad I’m not one of them.

131·29 days agoIf they wanted to do it properly they could take a leaf out of the pages from STOKITI or EDRI - but they don’t want to do it properly. Technology@lemmy.world•‘You Will Not Speak on Flock Tonight’: County Commissioner Refuses to Let Residents Opposing Flock Speak at MeetingEnglish
3·1 month agoYeah, I think the exact phrase is something like “it takes a politician to be that arrogant” I think it stems from:
“Politicians are like monkeys in that ‘the higher they climb, the more revolting are the parts they expose’.” (Gwilym Lloyd George)
But yes, the inherited wealthy (which includes politicians too) are the same. Nowhere more apparent than in the US.
But it never ceases to amaze and infuriate me, how arrogant politicians become, particularly to the very people that they’ll be meeting - cap in hand, begging for their vote with every excuse under the sun and telling them lies that they think they want to hear, just to get elected again, so that they can, once again berate those very people.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘You Will Not Speak on Flock Tonight’: County Commissioner Refuses to Let Residents Opposing Flock Speak at MeetingEnglish
1403·1 month ago“You will not speak on Flock tonight,” he responds. “One person designated. You can pick that person … if I gave everyone three minutes to say the same thing, which is opposition to Flock, we’d never get done … I’ve spoken. I’m not debating this.”
Only politicians can be that arrogant. imagine forgetting how the fuck you got into that seat in the first place. Ironically, it’s the same reason that he thinks that one person can speak on behalf of everyone else.
Voting for somebody to make your decisions for you is crazy. But expecting that same person to agree with everything that you want is just insane.
Even with that in mind, arrogant pricks like this guy still seem to be able to berate their constituents and remain confident that they will get re-elected.
