Asking random people what they want gives you a big portion of answers that are things that are actually super harmful to them. Most people are simply too stupid and/or easy to manipulate/steer/… Hence things like people depending on immigration voting for Trump… go bankrupt later…

But in any case, yes, most people are too dumb, too easy to manipulate. Just look at the USA, wild stuff. But pretty much any other place on earth works too, perhaps we have to look at history. Germany in or before WW2 was wild too.
