Matrix is cool but it is definitely not an alternative to discord. Also, matrix is a protocol and not a platform! Element for example, is based on matrix but element is NOT matrix. Anyways it is not ready for prime time unfortunately and the main instance matrix.org has, uhm, questionable privacy policies
