There’s not all that much fact checking about something like that. It’s not like they claimed something and got one small detail wrong. It’s just a blanket statement that is unsubstantiated. Assuming they have common knowledge of the industry they’re in, it takes just one game that is not coin-operated and has some save functionality to make the original statement invalid.

I try to “vote with my wallet” on these things whenever I can.

I’ve got a suspicion that this is one of those “say something intentionally stupid so that everyone jumps on the train to correct you and create engagement”.

Fair point, but depending on the interviewee, you might get very different answers and/or follow up questions.

Even if they assume something, it might be just for the sake of the example. If they’re competent, they’ll follow up with another example and so on, depending on how exactly you pose the problem.

If you present it as an abstract question, one possibility is that you get an abstract answer. If you present it like a ticket with no description, you might get prompted to clarify.

Yeah, it’s basically that, but it has different uses - two main things I can think of right away are 1) verifying data when downloading large files and 2) cryptography (e.g. when storing credentials). Oh, and hash tables too.

If you hand out a problem and only accept one solution out of multiple valid ones, you’re part of the problem.

It’s not the IS that makes them expensive, it’s the locked out ecosystem and the monopoly they have. I’m not saying they’re not good - they are (from what I’ve seen), but healthy competition, if it existed, would’ve driven the prices down a bit.

As for IS itself, since the move to IBIS, it makes sense that some lenses drop the IS and only rely on the body’s. IMO it used to matter in the DSLR days when IBIS was not really a thing. Nowadays it’s sensible to only put it into the longer lenses that physically need it (the longer the lens, the more physical movement required to compensate and so on).

That’s why it’s important to set expectations in advance. 50 images shot in the same setting and processed in bulk with maybe minor adjustments to each is something very different from 50 images that you have to touch up every single one.

I don’t disagree with the notion, but phrased like this it’s kind of like trolling/clickbait - getting people to engage regardless of what they’re saying.
